Prebiotics and Organic Acids

Prebiotics and Organic Acids

Prebiotics and Organic Acids as NAGPs

The new era of eliminating antibiotic growth promoters can be welcome with smart formulas addressing multiple problems in a cost-efficient way. Synergic combinations of prebiotics that support beneficial flora, and organic acids that help to reduce pathogen transition to the intestinal channel, creates a natural barrier, that later pays back as weight gain and lower conversion ratio. The added value of toxin reduction and immune modulation, will ensure a profitable growth throughout the lifespan. Animal rearing faces many problem-causing factors simultaneously: Management issues, disease pressure, limited farm hygiene resources, and most important, increased costs of treatments, vaccinations, and feeding. The increasing demand for feed raw material forces the industry to use also contaminated and unclean sources. Although utmost cleaning and sanitation may be applied to the feed and raw material, the re-contamination happens usually during transport or warehousing, leading to multiplication of bacteria, mold and fungi. The animals are under constant pressure of these factors, and also of dangerous by-products, such as mycotoxins. Only resistant and prepared animals can cope with the negative effects of contaminants, toxins and disease-causing agents. Animals under constant stress will eventually develop sub-clinical or clinical conditions that lead to economic losses. Hence integral solutions with multiple benefits are important for a more cost-effective rearing.

Our Proposal

Helping to have a healthy gut and safe food!

Turbo Tox® is another proposal as part of  XVET NAGP strategy.  Due to synergy of organic acids and prebiotic. Turbo Tox® has a balanced synergy of prebiotic yeast extract, a special MOS, organic acids and silicates. Application of such combination (Prebiotic + Organic acid) provides a cost-effective and efficient alternative to current conventional chemical agents
Turbo Tox indication and feature
The extract of inactivated yeast has proven benefits for livestock: it is active throughout the whole gut, it is selective over pathogens, and it has excellent prebiotic, nutritive and immune modulating properties. This is one of the main factors that positively influence the quality of Turbo Tox®, a special yeast extract highly rich in MOS and ß-Glucans for optimum immune modulation, and with an improved digestion and availability. With the help of these, there is a continuous non-specific immune response, with both local and systemic effects, that supports the animals in the times of real challenges. Organic acids improve digestion, decrease contaminants, and repel flies and insects. Individual organic acids show certain benefits, however when three different organic acids are carefully combined in the formula of Turbo Tox®, their activity is bigger and extended. Silicates: Bind, inactivate, expel, destroy: Certain silicates have affinity to different types of toxins. Molecule size, polarity, water affnity, and most important, sieve size, will determine how much toxin will be eliminated. Turbo Tox® counts with the activity of Diatomaceous earth and bentonite for a broader activity. Diatomaceous earth is also effective against
vectors such as fly eggs or litter beetle, not only in feed, but also in the litter, and this way its reproduction is altered, helping to decrease the vector pressure.

University trial result
The effect of Turbo Tox® on growth rate and feed conversion ratio in comparison with antibiotic was investigated on broiler. The experimental treatments are shown in Table 1.
Table 1: Trial design
Treatment
Description
T0
0.5 kg/ t Zinc bacitracin
T1
1kg/ t Turbo Tox + 0,25 kg/t Zinc bacitracin
T2
1kg/t Turbo Tox
T3
1.5 kg/t Turbo Tox
Figure 1. The average final weight of the chicken at the end of rearing
Result is investigating the positive effect of Turbo Tox on final weight (Figure 1) and feed conversation ration (Figure 2)
Figure 2. Feed conversion ratio of all treatment groups
It is concluded that using Turbo Tox® as Non-Antibiotic growth promoter improved (P < 0.05) growth rate with the highest rate for treatment with 1.5 kg per ton of feed. 1.5 kg per ton of feed has lower FCR as well.
